Club AGM

The Adultes Gusserane GAA club will hold its annual general meeting tonight, Tuesday December 28 at 8 p.m. Unfortunately, the meeting will still have to be held virtually this year. If you would like to participate online, please let club secretary Lorraine know by sending an email to and a link will be returned to your email address prior to the meeting. The club have made great strides in recent years on and off the pitch and your presence at the meeting would be greatly appreciated. So light the fire, brew your cup of tea, and participate in the comfort of your own living room.

County Final

Bad luck for Gusserane’s under-20s footballers who recently lost the Division 1 county final to a very strong and straightforward side from Blackwater. The Gusserane boys have had a great campaign to reach the decider and I hope many of them will now progress to line up with the adult junior and senior teams next year.

Draw winners

Gusserane Handball and Racquetball Club would like to thank everyone who supported their recent Christmas raffle. The fundraiser was a great success and puts the committee in a strong position to further improve the lane facilities.

The winners were Niamh Foran (basket from Whitty Autobody), John Morrissey (basket from Murphy’s Centra, Waterford), Johnnie Murphy (turkey from Yoletown Mills and ham from Wallaces Supervalu), Harry Cosgrove (bon de Tir na nOg), Lucy Dillon ( Full Valet from Murphy’s Cars, Gusserane), Fiona Whitty (dinner for 2 at Horse and Hound), Johnnie Murphy (one4all voucher from Cllr Michael Whelan) and Irene McCormack (bottle of Jameson from Paul Morrissey). The seller’s price for a new racket and goggles went to Paudie Foran.

A big thank you to those who sold the tickets and a special word of thanks to the generous sponsors.

Good year

The author would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who continue to contribute to the items for inclusion in these weekly notes and to wish them and the readers a Happy New Year.
