Duane Q. Johnson – Duluth News Tribune

Died May 27, 2022 at the age of 83 after a short battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was predeceased by his father, Ruben Johnson; mother, Ann; and her sisters, Sandy and Gloria.

Duane is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane Johnson; son Jordan (Kristy Marie) Johnson; stepsons, Gary (Andrea) Pierson, Dan (Kathy) Pierson; grandsons, Andrew (Rachel) Estes, Reid Pierson and Mitchell Pierson; brother Ron Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Duane lived in Duluth until 1979. He attended Central High School (Class of 1957). He was a very active member of the student body. He played college basketball and many of his classmates became lifelong friends. After high school, he began his long career in the insurance industry.

He moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1979 where he and his wife Diane met 6 close friends who stayed connected throughout his life.

He moved to the Twin Cities in 1989 and lived there until his death.

He loved life and always had a positive “I can do” attitude. He lived a very active life playing golf, running marathons, biking, racquetball, staying in shape, reading, singing, and going to the theater. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Christian Burial Memorial Mass will be Thursday, 6/9/22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joe’s Catholic Church, 13900 Biscayne Ave W. Rosemount, MN 55068. Visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place the following day at Calvary Cemetery in Duluth.
