BASKETBALL

winter leagues

For the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation winter basketball leagues, players can choose their location to play.

Boys ages 6-14, girls ages 3-6, and squirts (ages 6 or 7 and in first or second grade) can play at Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center or Randy Smith Recreation Center.

Boys grades 9-12 will be held at the Randy Smith Center only.

There are limited places in each division. All leagues are $75 for Berkeley County residents and $85 for non-residents. A $5 sibling discount on second and subsequent siblings is given for siblings playing the same sport in the same season.

Mighty Mites basketball for 4 year olds

Mighty Mites Basketball (for 4-year-olds starting September 1 – $55 per child for the six-day session. This program runs Thursdays from 5:15-6:10 p.m. November 3-December 15 (no classes Nov. 24) at the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center – Quad Gymnasium (273 Woodbury Ave., Martinsburg.

Mighty Mites basketball for ages 5 and 6

Mighty Mites Basketball for ages 5-6 (starting Sept. 1) is $55 per child for the six-day session.

This program runs Thursdays, November 3 through December 15 (no class November 24) at the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center (Quad Gymnasium) 273 Woodbury Ave., Martinsburg.

SOCCER

Indoor football for 3 year olds

Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation sponsors a four-day program for 3-year-olds and their parents.

It takes place from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. on November 5, 12, 19 and December 3

$40 per child.

Pre-registration is required and payment is due at time of registration.

Limited places are available.

Fusal d’hiver (indoor football)

Futsal is open to boys and girls from 6 to 14 years old. It is sponsored by Martrinsburg/Berkeley County Parks and Recreation.

This league will take place at the Randy Smith Recreation Center in Inwood.

SOCCER

Fundamentals of Flag Football — Session 2

Registration is now open for a second session of our basic flag football clinic, for children ages 7-10 from the first day of camp.

The clinic will include drills and skills as well as flag football matches.

The program instructor is Lisa Mann. The registration fee is $30 per child and pre-registration is required. This camp will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 16 and 23 at Moose Field (next to the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center).

GENERAL

Toddler sports

Martinsburg/Berkeley County Parks and Recreation is offering a program for children ages 3-4 starting November 5.

The program introduces children to the basics of various sports and activities in a fun environment.

Parent participation is required.

It will take 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. on Saturdays, November 5, 12, and 19 and December 3 at the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center.

The cost is 40 per child.

Pre-registration is required and payment is due at time of registration.

Powerful fitness against dust mites

Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation is offering a program for children ages 4-7 beginning September 1.

In this four-day program, children will participate in a variety of activities to improve their motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

It will take place from 11:05 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. on Saturdays, November 5, 12, 19 and December 3 at the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center.

The cost is $40 per child.

Pre-registration is required and payment is due at time of registration.

Sport and Agility Clinic

Martinsburg/Berkeley Parks and Recreation is offering a program for children ages 9-13 beginning September 1.

Each week aims to improve your sports performance through speed and agility.

It will take place from 5:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, November 15, 22 and 29 and December 6 at the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center.

The cost is $65 per child.

Pre-registration is required and payment is due at time of registration.

Limited places are available.

training course

There will be practice classes on Saturday and Sunday at the Spring Mills High School Library.

They are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Beginner Yin Yoga

During this five-week course, students will work on the subtle layers of tissue and consciousness. Poses will be held longer and will target fascia, connective tissue, and joints. It is a gentle, slow movement that is accessible to most people regardless of mobility or strength.

You can register online or download the form and drop it off at our offices, by mail or in our drop box (located behind the right pillar near the administrative office on Woodbury Ave.) along with your check or money order.

This five-week course will be offered on Thursdays, Oct. 27-Dec. 1 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (no classes on Thanksgiving Day).

The cost is $75 per participant.

Senior players are in demand for racquetball.
