Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation is accepting registrations for the fall 2022 basketball leagues.

The registration deadline is August 23 for all divisions. Online registration will close August 23 at 11:59 p.m. After the deadline, late registrations will be charged a $10 late fee.
Please provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate if one is not already on file.
The entry fee is $75 for Berkeley County residents ($85 for non-residents) and there is a $5 discount for siblings. (First child is full price, all additional siblings get a $5 discount.)
The Squirt League is for children aged 6 or 7 (as of September 1) and entering first or second grade.
Girls’ Leagues are for girls entering grades 3-8 for the upcoming school year.
Boys’ leagues are for boys entering grades 3-12 for the upcoming school year.
Kelly Church Camp
Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation is now enrolling at the Kelly Church Co-Ed Basketball Academy.
Church has over 35 years of experience as a camp director and guest speaker at hundreds of basketball camps across the country.
These co-ed camps will feature basketball fundamentals paired with life lessons and classroom expectations that will lead to success on and off the court.
Entry into grade: 1-7 (4th year students can choose one or the other of the sessions.
Location: The Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center (273 Woodbury Ave., Martinsburg.
Price: $65 per child/per camp.
Dates: Two sessions available for each age group. Session dates are July 18-21 and July 25-28. See website for times and full details www.mbcparks-rec.org.
Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation will offer an outdoor basketball clinic for girls ages 6-9, beginning July 18.
The clinic will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. July 18-20 at the Oak Street Park basketball court.
The registration fee is $60 per participant and pre-registration is required.
The clinic will focus on developing skills/fundamentals including ball handling and dribbling, changing direction with and without the ball, agility and jumping, ball control, attacking/defending drills and basic knowledge of the game.

Shepherdstown Rotary Tournament
The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown is seeking sponsors for its second annual golf tournament, to be held September 30 at Cress Creek Country Club.
The tournament will be a four-person captain’s choice with prizes for first and second place teams.
Proceeds will help fund community projects of the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown.
Sponsorship levels will be as follows: $3,000: banner on the green, two quartets, media exposure, team photos; $1,000: one quartet, starter sign, media exposure; $500: one quartet, starting board; $150: starting board.
Founded in 1987, the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown has played a leading role in many community projects over the years and has also provided financial and volunteer support for many other community activities.
Inside the caucus
The 12th Annual Inside the Huddle with Tony Caridi, the detailed voice of West Virginia’s football and basketball teams, will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on August 5 at the river properties of Terr Hess and the Rick and Dave families. Pill 911 Hoffman Road, Martinsburg.
Tickets are $40 per person and will include a tailgate-style meal and drinks.
Proceeds benefit Boys and Girls Clubs of the Eastern Panhandle.

WVU Bus Travel
The Mountaineer Fan Club in the Eastern Panhandle has scheduled two bus trips to football games:
They are for Pitt on September 1 and Virginia Tech on September 22.
The cost is $55 per person for transportation only; people have to get their own game tickets.
The bus will leave Martinsburg (Pill & Pill Law Office) six hours before the Pitt game kicks off and seven hours before the Virginia Tech game.
The bus will return to Martinsburg immediately after the games, both of which will take place on Thursday evenings.
To guarantee a spot, please pay at Pill & Pill (85 Aikens Center, Martinsburg).
The organization has 10 game tickets in section 226 for an additional $95 – only for people taking the bus. First paid first gets them.
Beginner Yoga Workshop
This class is specially designed for people who have never taken a yoga class. Changes will be made to accommodate everyone. The instructor will strive to make all individuals feel safe and comfortable. Students do not need to be able to touch their toes, but they should be willing to try.
This is a six week introductory course. This course takes place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 15-Oct. 20.

Beginner Yin Yoga
During this five-week course, students will work on the subtle layers of tissue and consciousness. Poses will be held longer and will target fascia, connective tissue, and joints. It is a gentle, slow movement that is accessible to most people regardless of mobility or strength.

This five-week course will be offered on Thursdays, Oct. 27-Dec. 1 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (no classes on Thanksgiving Day).

Lunch by Tex Williams
Jefferson baseball coach John Lowery and his three sons, John Jr., Charlie and Rusty will be honored at an event hosted by Tex Williams July 23 at the Charleston Coliseum.
Some 1,500 people are expected to attend the event which will begin with a social period from 10:30 a.m. to noon and a program that is expected to last three hours.
Former coaches Don Nehlen, Bob Pruett and Greg White will speak, as will Governor Jim Justice and US Senator Joe Manchin.

WVSSAC Coaching Course
West Virginia Coaching classes are scheduled to be held in August at the Spring Mills High School library.
The dates are August 12 and 13.
The session takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Participants are required to take the 14.5 hours.

Mighty Mites Camps
Martinsburg-Berkeley County enrolls in sports camps for children ages 5-7.
The Mighty Mites Basketball Camp is $55, which includes a shirt, and will take place from 6-7:15 p.m. July 18-21 at Oak Street Park.
The $55 Mighty Mites Soccer Camp takes place August 8-11 at the Dupont Soccer Complex
Pre-registration is required and payment is due at time of registration, for all of our activities, leagues and camps.

Mighty Mites Soccer Camp — $55/child — a four-day camp for 4- and 5-year-olds (starting July 1). Shin guards and soccer shoes mandatory. From 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. from July 5 to 8.
Berkeley Summer Adventure Camps:
Camps are held weekly until August 8. Choose either the Berkeley 2000 Rec Center or the W. Randy Smith Rec Center.
Open to 6-12 year olds (children must be 6 years old on 01/09/2021 and no older than 12 on the first day of camp).
Thematic weekly camps
$175 per child/per week ($10 discount for multiple children OR multiple weeks available – cannot be combined)
Camp hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (before and after daycare available for an additional fee)
Camp locations: Berkeley 2000 Rec Center and W. Randy Smith Recreation Center (register for a location)
Fun activities, games and local excursions to keep kids entertained this summer.
Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation is now registering for their 2022 Summer Swim Lessons online or in person.
The following courses will be offered:
Preschool classes (3 to 5 years old) must include the 3 with the parents and the 3 alone. $35 per one week session
Courses for young people (6 years and over) with levels 1 to 3, 4 beginners and 4 advanced and level 5. Prices range from $60 to $70 per two-week session, depending on the length of the course.
These courses take place from Monday to Friday. Morning or evening sessions are available.

Registration for the upcoming 2022 Fall Football Season sponsored by Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation is now open.

Youth Soccer Camps
Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation is now accepting registrations for their summer football camps.
These camps are open to children aged 6 to 14 (born between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2016). Dates and times offered vary by age group and instructor.
The registration fee is $55 per child. Pre-registration is required.

Senior players are in demand for racquetball.
